NATO help UkraineThis was stated by the Prime Minister of Finland Alexander Stubb, reports yle.fi. He said that responding to the request of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin for a military assistance impossible.

“It is impossible, on the NATO side, because the Alliance is providing military assistance to its members, and it is well-known, neither by the EU, which lacks the capacity to provide such support”, said Alexander Stubb.

According to him, the key issue is the firm providing the truce. Whether pro-Russian separatists in Eastern Ukraine ready to the cease-fire, is “a question for a thousand euro”, he said, adding that while negotiations on this issue, have not produced results. The Prime Minister of Finland noted that Russia and the European Union are experiencing a protracted period of fragile relationship. The war in Georgia in 2008 and the crisis in Ukraine has demonstrated that Russia is also willing to use force to back up its policies, he said and stressed that this situation must be changed.

“It’s in our interests that the walls between Russia and the West were as low as possible. This is something we should aspire to, but, unfortunately, we are still far from achieving this goal”, he concluded.

In Berlin, Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said that the EU and NATO must find the strength to provide military assistance to Ukraine.
