About the dissolution of the Parliament, the Head of state, at first, reported in social networks – Twitter and Facebook.

“I decided to terminate the powers of the Verkhovna Rada of the seventh convocation. Elections for a new Parliament will be held October 26, 2014. This decision I made in strict accordance with the article 90 of the Constitution of Ukraine. Taking into account the expectations of the vast majority of citizens of Ukraine and in the performance of a word of mine, which I gave, when I ran for a President”, wrote Poroshenko in Facebook.

Later on the official site there was a statement from the President because of dissolution of Parliament, in which he explains in detail the reasons for the appointment of the new elections.

The coalition broke up on July 24. The new current of the month, as provided by the Basic law, was not created. In this case, the Constitution gives to the President the right, to dissolve the Parliament. This right I used. It is the only right and responsible decision”, said in the statement.

Poroshenko, referring to opinion poll data, argues that the dissolution of the Parliament support 80% of Ukrainian citizens.
“In the end, it was one of the main demands of the Revolution of dignity. Powerful public’ request to reloading the regime is more evident. Elections are the best way of lustration. And the cleaning should be started from the highest legislative body”, the President considers.

Poroshenko also stated that “the current composition of the Verkhovna Rada within one and a half year was a mainstay of Yanukovych”. Many of the deputies, he said, are supporters of separatist militants.

“Most of these deputies took dictatorial laws that claimed the lives of Heavenly Hundred. They should incur criminal and also political responsibility for that. Many deputies who are in session or registered in the Parliament are, or direct sponsors and accomplices, or supporters of separatist militants. Even the announcement of mobilization and the requirement to recognize DPR and LPR terrorist organizations barely scraped 232 votes”, said in the statement.
Poroshenko is sure that the composition of the Verkhovna Rada doesn’t match “political attitudes of the Ukrainian society”, which have quickly changed in recent months.

He believes that with such deputies will not be able to win the war.
“After all, our enemies are not only saboteurs, terrorists and mercenaries who came from the other side of the Russian-Ukrainian border. No less harm than the “Grads” or “Buks”, cause corruption, unemployment, poverty. And we must win on all of these fronts at once. I consider a victory at the Donbass and the victory of democratic reform forces in the Verkhovna Rada as an interconnected process. Therefore, early parliament elections is a part of my peace plan”, the President said.

Thus, the Head of the state stressed that the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of the seventh convocation, will work till the elections for a new Parliament.

“The main thing they have to do is to ratify the Association agreement with the European Union in September”, Poroshenko said.
He guaranteed that “the elections will be honest, democratic and transparent”.

“In the electoral history of the country these elections will become as standard as the current presidential elections”, the President said.
